Competition is in all of us, but in women it is a push for progress or is it fuel for jealousy? Women are the biggest critics of each other, so much so that we are in competition over everything. Women are actually considered catty by society because we refuse to be outdone.
For men, competition actually brings them together in some or other way and for women it completely pulls us apart. Why is this so? For a long time women have felt that being better than the next makes them superior or rather popular which results in life being better for them, we long for approval. Competition between women could be seen as a mask of fear of success and insecurity. Meaning that we would rather do things to be recognized than for our own satisfaction. This is surely not healthy.
So what is this concept of healthy competition? And does it really exist or is it just something we unconsciously hope for? Healthy competition and confidence should be encouraged in young girls as much as it is in young boys and men. This will help women realize that at the end of the day we are all headed in the same direction, to succeed in life.
The petty energy put into competing for men, attractiveness, financial status, fashion sense and weight should be turned in positive self encouragement for an individual.
